When he left his tribe to take a new path, he was way more cautious and first had to find his way in the strange world outside of his known surroundings.Koiji was considered caring and protective by his tribe. However, his caring and gentle side was often criticized as he grew older and became a male, because he was not allowed to lose his certain seriousness and duty as a wood-warder. His caring nature can sometimes cause him a bit of trouble when others try to take advantage of him.
He hates loneliness and isolation and has turned away from his tribe and traditions for these reasons. In his eyes, traditions should be reconsidered and adapted instead of necessarily stubornly insisting on them. This way of thinking didn't get him much support from his tribe.He is generally positive by nature, but sometimes relapses into difficult times and dark moments of his past. Although he is still a young Viera, a series of events have had a profound impact on him. When he left his tribe and the Scatay Range, he felt lost in the big, new world at first. He needed some time to get used to the new surroundings.Koiji usually sees himself in a completely different light than others perceive him. He is self-critical in general. Sometimes he feels inferior. Therefore, he often questions his own abilities and skills.Koiji is plagued by bad luck - and it continually frustrates him. In contrast, Koiji seems to bring good luck to others when traveling together or crossing paths, which has at some point earned him the reputation of a "good luck charm". Thinking about his past, he feels that this is more than strange, as such bad things had happened, that were - in his eyes - his fault.

Biography

Born in a small village of a Veena tribe, Koiji was raised harshly and strictly from an early age in a harsh environment of snow, storm and cold. He knows neither his mother nor his father, as the women of the tribe raise all children together and do not develop a direct, personal relationship with individual children. His tribe is known for taking a strict line when it comes to Viera traditions, rules and rites. Therefore, it was always a bit difficult for Koiji to get along with his gentle nature. He had never really felt positive about the customs and had acquired the desire early on to guard the forests together with other Viera instead of remaining in isolation and solitude . He was harshly criticized for this when he once expressed these thoughts.

When he reached the right age to be taken into the woods for training, he felt very insecure but didn't want to disappoint anyone. However, he quickly learned archery, hunting and survival, as Koiji not only has great curiosity but also a combative nature. His master recognized his talent and had him take the test early, which he finally passed after a long, tough fight. From then on, living in isolation to pursue his calling, his thoughts soon became dark and gloomy. Koiji always felt more comfortable in company, which made it difficult for him not to fall into loneliness during long periods.

During his time as a wood-warder, he met two other Viera who crossed his path - Arun and Oruro. They were Viera, who belonged to one of the tribes close to his. However, they were more open-hearted and - like him - not 100% committed to the rules and traditions of the Viera. They began to develop a friendship for each other, which led them to meet again and again to spend the evenings together and talk about experiences and wishes. They were also the ones who encouraged Koiji to go his own way and not let the chains of tradition hold him back if that was his wish. Still hesitant to follow this thought, the words of his other tribe members were firmly anchored in his mind.

However, one day when Koiji was seriously wounded during a fight and was thrown into a pit by a group of intruders, it was Arun and Oruro who came to his aid to push back the intruders. When Oruro helped him out of the pit, one of the troublemakers managed to subdue him with pistol shots. Falling dead into the arms of injured Koiji, Arun furiously rushed at the remaining intruders and wrestled them down. Confident of his victory, he ran towards Koiji and Oruro when a final shot from a dying man hit him in the chest and he fell to the ground before Koiji's eyes.

Bloodied with his own blood mixed with the blood of his brothers, he held Arun in his arms, who used his last breath to give Koiji the courage to follow his dreams rather than potentially succumb to that possible fate of dying alone one. Shocked and traumatized by the deaths of his comrades and the disaster that his carelessness had caused, he stoically buried his two friends. For many hours he sat in front of their graves, ignoring the icy snowstorm that was raging, while he cried bitterly – with that, a great anger at himself and his incompetence grew strongly within him.

His friends' words echoed over and over in his mind. His legs moved almost of their own accord. He stood up, looked back one last time before he ran as if driven by the wind, leaving the forest and the mountains - to escape everything that had bound him in chains - to escape from the terror that was in his flesh and bones - out of shame and remorse for bringing his friends to their deaths and for not being strong enough to protect them.
